Now, whenever I look at it this lamp I’m always going on (in my head ) that WHY didn’t I do this before? WHY did it take me so long? WHY was I living such a dull life before.
So many unanswered questions because of a poor little lamp 😉
I have three of these lamps in different shapes and sizes and I knew when I was buying them that I will transform all of them later on. And that “later on” turned into months and months until just a few days back when I was switching on one of the lamps that I realized WOW these little babies need some color injected in them like ASAP.
It was perfect timing since I had bought paint samples of these cute pastel shades and I had to test it out on something. Such pretty, bright and beautiful colors and these lamps were the perfect canvas for these colors.
Here is the before shot.
I got this lamp off Craigslist and I think we paid $15 for the lamp. It was in a really good condition Plus I was super desperate to have some lamps in our apartment so we went ahead and bought these babies.
The lamp needed two coats of the paint because whenever you paint lamps you have to test the lampshade by switching on the lamp afterwards, because what seems like a perfect paint job may not look so perfect when the light switches on. There might be some gaps here and there. So better fill those gaps in 🙂
Next, I had few of these craft pieces leftover after the disaster that happened with me which you guys can see here How I Ended The Life of a $5 Drab Mirror. Whatever pieces I had left I painted in the color Spring Stream. These pastel shades are so so so so so so cute like I can’t get enough of this color combination.
Moving on when the wood craft pieces were dry I went in and applied a thin layer of Glue on the backside and started arranging it on my lampshade.
And just like the mirror whose life I ended, in its honor I went in and recreated the Aztec Pattern.
And this is what I ended up with.
I love how bright and metallic the base is now. Just a little paint and a little imagination can really spruce up an item. Even though I’ve been DIY-ing for so long its these little quick makeovers which get me super excited all over again.
Now I can’t wait to transform the other two. But for now I’m really happy with the way this turned out.
What do you guys think?
