Mod Triangle Stool Makeover

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYThis little plain jane of a stool used to be in my husbands apartment before he married yours truly and the minute I saw it I knew the “All Black Everything” action had to go.

And today was the day 😉

My husband bought it from Target about three years ago and it was in a really good condition, minor scratches here and there but overall still pretty.

Heres the before shot.

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYFirst off I detached the top part with a screwdriver and then spray painted the entire stool in Metallic Gold.

It needed two coats to completely cover the black.

While that was drying I started the Mod Triangle stamping process. For the Triangle I simply cut out a piece of sponge in the size that I thought would look nice.

Behold my little creation.

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYI used DecoArt Fabric Paints in these beautiful shades of turquoise, blue, pink , purple and orange.

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYI just dipped the sponge into the paint and stamped away, alternating the colors as I went along.

I kept the base black since I knew I was going to use so much color on top and the black was the perfect canvas.

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYIt took me in total half an hour, I did go over a few of the triangles again which I though didn’t look right.

Initially my plan was to stencil the triangles but the sponge was much more efficient and quicker plus the results turned out pretty good in my opinion 😉

Mod Triangle Stool Makeover - Delicious And DIYI gave it a couple of  hours for the top to dry and then it was just a matter of reattaching it back onto the stool.

And there you have it.

Short and quick and Oh So Colorful :)

Nice makeover! But no top coat? Will fabric colour hold on to metal? Anyway, be careful if you mean to sit on the stool–you might end up with a colourful bottom. Haha

Hahahah well hopefully not :) Fabric paints don’t need any top coat so I should be fine *fingers crossed* . Plus the paint was used on the fabric part of the stool.
