This months theme was Icing on the Cake and this little Mini Chest of Drawers fit the theme perfectly. Also the Sponsor for this month is D Lawless Hardware and they have such a fun collection of drawer pulls and hardware.I even received a few of there cute drawer knobs which I will show you guys in my next post because this piece already had so much “Icing” aka hardware action going on that it wouldn’t have been fair and I want to show you guys those cute drawer pulls without any distractions 😉
So moving on to this little beauty, when I first saw this piece I thought it was a full size Chest of Drawer and I was crazy excited about getting my hands on it. For the price I was getting this supposed “Chest of Drawer” my excitement level was bound to be on level crazy.
But somewhere along the way I don’t know what happened or maybe I didn’t ask the measurements or maybe I was told the wrong measurements, whatever happened the day when my husband and I went to pick it up I was like WAIT! WHAT? Why is the chest of drawer so MINI? Did it shrink? Like what is happening here?
Turns out it was only 20 inches in height like barely 20 inches. But since we drove all the way to get it and I just didn’t want to come back empty handed, we ended up buying it. So here I was with a mini version of what I thought I was going to get.
Behold the before shot
When you open the drawers you get to feast your eyes on this “All Red Everything” situation.
So I did what any normal person would do, I just hid the piece away until I thought I was ready to deal with it because firstly I needed time to recover from the “mini” shock and secondly have you seen the red inside. Like HELLO??
But then one fine day I finally decided to get it together and just start working on it.
Now this Mini Chest of Drawers was going to be used to store my jewellery and I was super pumped about that idea.
The color I chose for this piece was Ethereal by Velvet Finishes. Its this soft powdery pink color which I desperately needed to get rid of the brown.
Everything got a good coating of Ethereal, the drawers, the inside of the drawers and the chest of drawer itself. Since I sprayed the entire table all that hardware ended up getting covered up with paint as well.
But either way I had to paint over it anyways since the Gold was really dull to begin with. So I painted over the entire hardware with some Liquid Gold Gilding to bring it back to life.
With some decoupage glue I went ahead and started lining the drawers.
And this is how it turned out.
Couple of close up shots of these beautiful decoupage papers.
Aren’t they just the cutest.
What was once a piece that I regretted buying the minute I saw it, now I’m completely in love with.
What do you guys think?
