It’s high time I confessed to you guys that I have a severe obsession with the Southwestern Design and to name a few you guys can see my Southwestern Inspired Bowl Makeover, my DIY Southwestern Canvas Art , Aztec Table Makeover and tons more. I literally have a whole board on my Pinterest page dedicated solely for anything and everything Southwestern so there you go
Theres just something about the patterns and the play on color that Southwestern gets me every time plus I don’t think I’ve ever come across anyone who doesn’t like it.
I could go on and on and on but back to todays makeover and how I got this beautiful pattern on a “not so beautiful” furniture piece 😉
For this project I bought a Two Drawer Table. It basically is a two drawer table, the person who had it before just drilled two extra holes and slapped on some drawer knobs on the top drawer to give it the illusion like it had three drawers.
Since I knew my pattern on the table was going to be Bold and Colorful hence I wanted to keep everything else completely neutral therefore I went with my Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in White.
I filled up my HomeRight Finish Max Sprayer with the paint and sprayed away. The results as always are flawless with the sprayer.
When the paint was all done it was time for the fun part as well as the not so fun part.
The not so fun part being taping out a Southwestern pattern on top of the drawers and of course the fun part being painting the table.
From shades of blue to yellow to greens to red to black you name it. I just wanted to go crazy with the colors.
My plan was to incorporate all these colors one strip at a time horizontally. So without any particular order I started painting away with whatever color I thought felt right and just went with it.
When that was all done I did use my Gold Liquid Gilding after every color just because I think everything looks better with Gold in it and because I wanted to add some metallic finish in the mix 😉
When everything was completely dry I went in with my Satin Varnish and gave the table a good coat of it.
Lastly for the hardware part, the tables existing knobs were just some plain silver rounds one but for this particular table I wanted to use these beautiful leaf shaped hardware.
I received these leaves from D. Lawless Hardware. I mean How cute are these!!!
So off went the old door knobs and in came these pretty little leaves.
I did say that was the last part but I ended up using some Gold Liquid Gilding on the legs of the table as well.
Now I can officially say it was complete.
And that was my version of the Southwestern Design
