This little project was so not me since I’m more of a Geometric pattern/Stenciling person and this makeover was more cottage type feel. Ya know 😉
But whatever it is I am in love with how it turned out. The table itself, even if I tried any abstract or geometric pattern on it wouldn’t have looked right!
The curves of the table and the way it’s shaped was screaming for it to be given a cottage chic makeover.
And here is the before shot.It was in a pretty good condition, nothing really wrong with it except the fact that it was an absolute snooze fest! Just a boring brown table.
And I can’t deal with boring brown tables when I know they have so much more potential!
I wasn’t really quiet sure what color to do this table, I first painted it coral and then I ended up painting it this dark purple.
I was so sure about the table being coral and kept it coral it for two days. The coral table lived only for 48 hours before it was re-painted again !
I had to give it about two coats to fully cover it even though some coral color was still peeping through but I didn’t mind it at all.
Next I went in and used Gold Liquid Gilding to paint the drawer knobs and the front of the table as well as the legs.
The table still seemed really bare even after the Gold Liquid Gilding then I remembered I had bought these Gold Doilies from Michaels.
So then from there the plan was to paste a complete Doily onto the top of the table and also the sides of the table.
For the top corners of the table I split a Doily into four equal parts and pasted it on the four sides with Mod Podge.
When that was actually done it looked even better then I imagined.
This is so not what I’m normally used to creating but it was actually a breath of fresh air to try something different.
What do you guys think?
