This was a fun little project because I had a planned out in advance the perfect pattern I wanted to paint on the lamp.
And when I have a plan the rest of the project is a breeze.
The pattern I chose was none other then the Ikat Chevron.
I know I know some of you may be over the Ikat trend but for me it’s still going strong 🙂
The lamp before its makeover was in a really good condition.
It had this nice little crack effect going on with some metallic touches on the top and bottom.
The only problem was that it was just so Boring!
And I don’t do well with Boring.
It needed a fresh pop of color so I chose a beautiful Coral color.
It got two coats of the Coral and took a complete whole day to dry.
The next day I went in and painted the Ikat Chevron Pattern which was basically creating a Chevron pattern but then you drag the lines in an up and down motion as you go along.
I used Liquid Gilding and a very thin brush.
I think Ikat Chevron is the most forgiving pattern because even if you try to mess it up you really can’t mess it up!
So you can’t really go wrong here 😉
I kept the lampshade simple since I wanted all the focus to be on the base of the lamp.
And that was it.
What do you guys think?
