How to Easily Update An Old Painting

How to Update An Old Painting - Delicious And DIY

I’ve been transforming this room which you guys will finally see in a few days but you’ve seen some snippets like the Painted Dresser and the Doily Table and today I wanted to show you guys how I’ve been updating the Wall Paintings in the room.

This little painting had a beautiful thick Gold Frame which I completely fell in love with but the original painting was just dated. The frame was a keeper but the painting had to go!

Here is the before shot of the painting.

How to Update An Old Painting - Delicious And DIYI mean it was a pretty good painting but I’ve been looking at it for the past 15 years.

It was high time!

It had to be updated!

What I liked about the original painting was that it had textures and layers to it so when I painted over it you could see still it.

I chose a deep purple since the room its going in already has a Stencilled Purple Wall and I wanted to stay in the same color zone.

Since the wall it was going to hanged onto  was so busy and had so much pattern I wanted to keep the painting real simple but still super cute.

So I just stencilled on one Butterfly right in the middle using Liquid Gold Gilding.

And that was it.

How cute and easy was this project? 😉
