I always liked these Ikea Side tables more specifically because they are the perfect blank canvas for a DIY person like me to go as wild as I want to or be as subtle ( which in my world will never happen ! )as I want to.
And more importantly for once I had a plan on what I wanted on these tables.
I had a plan.
An actual plan even before buying these tables !
Cutting Edge Stencils just came out with their new line of stencils and the minute I saw this beauty Alhambra Tile Allover Stencil the first thing that came to my mind was “What if I used it on those Ikea Lack tables ?”
I ordered the stencils at ONCE and I mean Right Away !
Not a minute could pass by with me knowing that these stencils were not on there way.
It just had to be mine !
And I would like to say the story is exxagerated and that never was the case.
But sadly that is the truth.
We all know how these Lack tables look like but just for the sake of the dramatic Before and the After here you go guys 😉
So first things first the tables got a coat of Morning Glory which is this beautiful blue color from DecoArt in the Satin Enamel finish.
I just gave it one complete coat and if I thought I missed a spot I went in and painted over that area.
It didn’t really need two full coats of paint since the first coat was more then enough coverage.
When the painful waiting game for the tables to be dry was finally over ( which is another reason why I didn’t want to give it a second coat of paint since it would have taken forever to dry !) I finally got to use the beautiful stencil.
I chose three colors for the top part the first being light purple, coral and bright pink.
The stencil was literally the perfect size for the table like it was just made for these tables.
I’m telling you it fit like a glove and you can see it for yourself.
I alternated between all three color but kept more focus on the light purple.
Then I peeled of the stencil and started all over again on the other side table.
To finish it off and completely seal the deal I sprayed a generous amount of this Gloss Spray from Rust-Oleum which is my absolute favorite.
Then it was two more days of painful waiting before I could actually use these tables. I would have given it more time but I honestly don’t have the patience.
Two days seemed like two years !
And that was basically it.
What do you guys think ?
