This DIY Anthropologie Hack is budget-friendly and you might already have all the supplies at home to make your very own Anthropologie Knock Off Vase.
I love scrolling through Anthropologie home decor section but what I don’t love is the price tag that comes with it.
So you know what I decided to make a knock off version for half the price.
You should also check out more of my Anthro Hacks which is my Anthropologie Inspired Flower Mirror and another Anthropologie Vase.
So I stumbled upon this gorgeous vase on their website which you can see down below.
The vibrant orange color to the whites and the blue pattern combination caught my eye. That is when I decided what if I painted something similar.
I bought my vase specifically from the dollar store as they always have such a variety of vases for literally a dollar or less.
Like the one below is an example of my print used to makeover an empty bottle.
Materials Needed
DecoArt Acrylic Paint – Burnt Sienna
DecoArt Acrylic Paint – Yellow
DecoArt Acrylic Paint – Orange Flame
DecoArt Acrylic Paint – Primary Red
DecoArt Acrylic Paint – Ultramarine Blue
Basically for this entire project, I only spent $1 which was on the Vase since all the paint supplies etc I already had at home.
Here is the Before picture of the Dollar Store Vase I chose to paint on the Anthropologie inspired pattern.
Step-by-Step Tutorial for Anthropologie Knock Off Vase Using Dollar Store Vase
Step 1
First off I had to create my own custom orange color out of the following paint colors so to match the gorgeous deep orange color on the original Anthropologie Vase.
I mixed a little amount of all four colors in a paper plate about two drops of each color.
You could honestly use just the orange as well since that would look good as well but I chose to customize my paint color.
Step 2
Paint the entire Vase.
You could also decoupage the pattern onto the vase by choosing a similar pattern if painting is a little daunting.
After the vase is painted just place it on something which elevates the Vase so you can spin it around easily to paint.
It needed about two coats and I let it dry in between for 15 minutes.
Step 3
So if you analyze the original Anthropologie Vase design you can see that it really isn’t that complicated of a pattern.
I started off with creating mini “cloud” like shapes which was going to be the base for the blue flower pattern that would be painted on top later.
This took a little time as I had to go all around recreating the same design.
Step 4
The second step in this design process was to use a light blue color which I diluted with water since in the original design the light blue is very faint.
I created an outline of the flower shaped pattern.
As you can see I really did it freehand since this was really me just having fun to and see how it would turn out if I paint it without having to be perfect.
It really is a lot of fun if you let loose.
Step 4
The last step in the design process was to use a darker blue paint color and go over the light blue pattern which was done in the previous step.
My design, of course, was a little thicker and I added the dots all over.
Honestly, while I was painting it I did think to myself that it looks messy and not as perfect as the original design but I’m glad I stuck with it because when it was completed thats when everything together made so much sense.
I also painted the Rim of the Vase Gold and the inside White.
Step 5
This last step is optional but I think makes all the difference which was using Resin.
It really elevated my dollar and made the design POP.
The particular brand of Resin that I use I have made so many DIY projects with such as my Marbled Coffee Table, Bar Cart and my Resin Wall Clock.
The colors seemed really matte but after applying a coat of Resin it gave the Vase a beautiful sheen.
You only need a small amount and a thin layer of Resin painted onto the Vase to see the massive difference.
Then just let the Resin cure for 72 hours and when it is fully dry fee free to pop in some fresh flowers and you have yourself a gorgeous hand-painted Anthropologie Inspired Dollar Store Vase.
All Done.
What do you guys think?
So many ways you can update a dollar store vase and this could be perfect as a centerpiece, outdoor decor or just a gorgeous Vase for your home decor space.
