So this Campaign Chest Makeover can go either way, some might really like it and some might say that I ruined a solid wood furniture piece!
But in my defense I have had this Campaign Chest Table for almost 32 years even before I was born !! So you can imagine that I have been seeing this basic brown piece of furniture for so long that I was dying to give it a makeover at this point.
Let me give you guys a good picture of how it actually looked in its original glory.
So there you have it, some might actually like it and don’t get me wrong I did actually love this piece but I had had enough and it was time for a change.
And that is what I set out to do to give it a total transformation.
Materials Needed for this Project
Paint Brushes
Sealant
I went the complete opposite route and chose a bright Blue Vibrant Color.
I chose a Chalky Paint Finish in the color Treasure from DecoArt.
The thing I absolutely loved about this piece was the beautiful wood carvings and to me with all the brown colors it seemed like it wasn’t getting the spotlight it deserved.
First I gave the entire table two coats of the Chalky Finish Paint.
That in itself improved the piece so much.
To enhance the carvings I went in with a round fluffy brush and used 24K Metallic Gold by DecoArt and went around the entire wooden carvings.
This instantly enhanced the piece 10 times more.
I painted the drawer pulls all Gold as well.
So for the front part, it was looking a little bare to me.
I decided to use these gorgeous Palm Leaf Stencils by DecoArt as well which I have used on my Copper and Gold Fall Art Wall.
And this flower stencil which I have used on my Flower Clay Coasters and Refinished Spring Table.
The flower would go in the middle and the leaves would be on either side.
The top part I decided to use some stencils, which would compliment the existing woodcarvings, as well as some flowers.
And on the side of the chest of drawer I went in with the same Leaf Stencil and stenciled it on either side as well.
And that was basically it.
I absolutely love the results.
What do you guys think?
