So these little fellas you guys have probably seen in my Master Bedroom Reveal Post. I wanted a few art pieces for my room which had to have both Copper and Gold Accents to it so I thought why not combine the two colors using foil and create something Artsy.
This is what I ended up with and I think it looks adorable.
Supplies Needed for This Project
Four Rectangular Shaped Canvasses
Acrylic Blue Paint
I created four of these since the way I want it to be placed in my Bedroom was, two on either side of my wall.
I was re-using one of my old canvasses which you guys can see from the picture, hence I gave it a quick coat of white paint to have somewhat of a clean “canvas” to work on.
The trick to this Wall Art is to work in portions when using Foil.
First you have to decide which Foil color you want to dominate in the piece. I played around with the proportions, for instance one had more copper and the others would have less of it or equal proportions of Gold and Copper.
Spray the Elmer’s Glue in small section and place the sheet of Foil lightly onto the canvas.
Do pat down the foil with a dry paintbrush which will give it the crinkly look.
Keep on spraying section by section and placing the foil as you move along. Do remember to switch back and forth with the Foil Colors to give it an added dimension.
When the canvas was completely covered I gave the whole of it one complete final spray of Glue to seal everything in and let it dry for a day.
The final step is the stenciling in which I placed my Leaf stencil in a way that two leaves could fit on one.
Using a beautiful Blue color I first dipped it in paint and brushed off the excess on a piece of cloth and in a dabbing motion painted on top of the stencil.
After that, let the paint dry completely before you hang it up.
I repeated it on all four of the canvasses.
For the edges of the canvas you can cover it in Gold Foil or paint it Gold which is far more easier but since I used these in my Master Bedroom and the theme is bright and colorful hence I painted each of them differently from black to purple to pink.
And that is it, hope you guys liked this tutorial.
It is a super easy and simple art but looks stunning and expensive.
Let me know what you think?
