A step by step tutorial on how to an adorable DIY Felt Flowers Resin Jewelry Tray just by using a few simple supplies. This tray is perfect for storing jewelry and knick-knacks.
If you guys have been following me for a while now you would know how I love playing around with Resin. I have made countless crafts and furniture pieces with Resin.
My all-time favorite Resin project has to be my Marbled Resin Coffee Table and DIY Bar Cart.
Epoxy Resin does sound a little intimidating at first but once you start using it you really can’t stop creating with it.
Which is what leads us to today’s fun little DIY Resin project

Tutorial for DIY Felt Flower Resin Jewelry Tray
Step 1
I received this beautiful Color Pour Resin kit from Joanns for this project and it had everything I needed.
The kit included Resin and Hardener, glitter etc but also basic items like cups, gloves, and a drop cloth to protect the surface which I loved about it.
The only thing I had to do was to get to crafting which is always the best part.
The Idea I had in mind was to use the photo canvas that they had provided and make it into an adorable tray for my jewelry items.
You know me I always like to transform a basic item into a totally different thing!
Step 2
To start off the project first place the dropcloth in the area you are working in and then wear the protective gloves before handling the Resin.
Pour the Resin and equal parts hardener into the cups. I also have a full video tutorial for visual instructions of the whole process.
Mix the resin and hardener together for a minute using the popsicle sticks provided in the box.
After that pour a few drops of the colored dye you will be using in the project. I went with light pink, blue and white. Mix all of it together as well for another minute.
As I mentioned earlier I was going to use the photo canvas that they provided and it make it into a jewelry tray.
I poured the Pink Resin first into the tray.
I wanted to create a beautiful light pastel marbling effect.
Then on top of the light pink, I poured over the light blue Resin color.
And lastly, I poured over the white Resin color which blended the colors beautifully together into the pastel shade I wanted.
Step 3
I really wanted to make this Tray have some fun spring elements to it which is why I went with these Felt Flowers.
You can find them anywhere I already had them because of a project I had done earlier and you can check out my Concrete Plant Stand to see how I used these flowers.
But for this Jewelry Tray, these flowers were a little too big which is why I had to remove the center felt ball of the flowers.
I also had to cut the flower in equal halves so it would fit in the tray easily.
While the Resin was still wet I gently placed the flowers all around the tray using the popsicle stick to gently push it down if needed.
I also wanted to add a little sparkle to my tray which is why I went with silver and blue glitter that was provided in the kit.
Place the glitter all around to your liking.
When I had added all the sparkles and felt flowers it was time to pour a final clear coat of the Epoxy Resin.
So I made another batch of one part Resin and Hardener and poured it over the tray (You can see the full process in the video as I mentioned earlier)
Step 4
The last step was to create the “handles” of the tray and I say that because it was more for show and decoration than for function.
It was really simple to make, I just used a 2 inch piece of white yarn and colored yarn which I wrapped around the edges using my hot glue gun.
Dab a little hot glue on the sides of the tray and attach the yarn piece in a U shape and that was it.
Let the Resin Tray cure for 24-48 hours before using it.
All Done!
