This little chair had previously undergone a makeover but this time around I wanted to give it a proper Upholstered transformation and having these beautiful Minted fabrics I just had no excuse not to!
The chair looked like this before
This isn’t of course the proper before “before” but clearly it needed an upgrade. I had spray painted it silver all over as well as the seating area.
Now I wanted a complete fabric makeover and that is exactly what I did.
The fabric I chose is called the Imperfectly Perfect Ikat Fabric in this beautiful Sky Blue color.
First off I spray painted the entire chair with a combination of Bronze and Gold Spray paint giving it a total of two coats alternating between the two.
I let the chair dry completely for a day before I started stapling the fabric.
For the Upholstery process I roughly measured it by placing the fabric onto the seat of the chair and cut it around it.
Don’t worry if you have excess fabric since you have to pull, fold and staple the fabric all around which mostly get rids of the “excess fabric” situation.
I did the same thing for the back of the chair pulling and stapling all along.
The chair didn’t take long and I was done in under 30 minutes.
And here is how it looks now.
All Done
