This was such a fun project to create, I mean how Frigging cute do these little Flower Clay Dishes look and I did it all with just some basic cookie cutters which almost all of us have in our house.
Incase you guys want to see my previous clay projects like this one than do check out my Marbled Clay Bottle, Cactus Clay Ring Holder, Marbled Clay Bowls and DIY Flower Clay Coaster.
Supplies for this project
(what I have been using in all my projects)
Aluminium Foil
Thin Tip Paintbrush
I chose about four colors of the oven bake clay, Red, Blue, Purple and Orange which I rolled up in balls.
After that I flattened it out and cut the flower shapes using the cookie cutter I had on hand.
I bought these flower shaped cookies from Walmart I think, for super cheap, years ago which were intended to make cookies but that never happened.
Oh well at least its being used on my clay project now!
It had four different sizes and I went ahead and made all four of them.
Flatten the clay out to a medium thickness since you need it to take a shape of dish/bowl later on.
Just press it down until the flower shape is cut out.
Since you have to bake these, first you need to bend the petals of the flower into a little bowl type dish. For it to keep that shape, fold aluminum foil into a thin roll and make it into a circle. Then place your cut out clay shape on top of it.
This will let you keep your folded clay dish structure even after baking.
I did it with all the other four colors and placed it on a flat baking tray and let it bake for 275F for 15mins
When the flower dishes are out of the oven and cooled. that is when you can go ahead start painting.
I didn’t really plan out what I would be painting on it and somewhat ended up using the same pattern I did on my Geometric Clay Coasters.
I also went around the rim of the dish, just to give it a clean finish.
The last step is optional, you could use a Clear Coat Glaze which will seal in the work but for this project I didn’t I kept the dish as it is.
And there you have it.
All Done!
What do you guys think?
