Finally I am back with a fresh new post and its a Mirror Makeover.
Its been too long TOO LONG!
So for quite some time now I wanted a huge decorative mirror for my room but the ones that I looked at were way to expensive or they looked like I could make it myself.
And that is exactly what I did, got a mirror and painted it myself.
Isn’t that how all my stories usually end up.
No surprises here!
I got this for super cheap and I did not realize it would be so heavy and so huge for the price I paid for it.
It did have some chipping in places but nothing that would have stopped me from buying it.
The person who sold it to me loved the chipped look and said it gave it a “Cottage chic vibe”
But I of course had different plans for it.
So for this project I went with DecoArt’s Vintage Effect Wash which is from there new line of products.
They sent me a bunch of different colors.
But if you are going to send me the color Gold then thats a big mistake.
Because I made a beeline for the Gold!
The Vintage Effect Wash was perfect for this project since it is meant for wooden pieces but can be used for different items.
And it doesn’t give the complete coverage that I wanted, you have to layer it and play around with it to get the results you want.
So in my case I gave the mirror about two coats in total.
But you could still see the Black trying to peek through from underneath.
After that I let it completely dry for the whole day.
The next day I went in with a coat of the Wood Reclaim all over the mirror to seal everything in.
And that was it.
Incase you guys want to see the makeover post of this pretty console table on which I’ve perched this mirror you can see it here.
What do you guys think?
