When we moved into our home a few years ago we had specifically told the architect to build niches in the wall.
I generally just like a little niche with a light in it, something about it always makes me happy.
I never actually planned on painting those niches but after a while they started to seem really bare.
At first I added in some glass shelves to make it look “not so empty”.
After a while I just decided to fully paint and create a gorgeous herringbone pattern in them.
This is how the niche looked after I had played around with some paint.
Materials Needed for this Project
Sponge
Scissors
This might look a bit messy but I had a method to all this madness.
The niche was divided in almost three equal part. I painted the lowest portion in a dabbing motion with Silver Paint.
For the middle one I used a combination of Gold and Silver.
The top one I kept bare.
All of this was going to serve as a base for my herringbone pattern.
Then I created the herringbone pattern using masking tape which is a really easy design to create.
After that on top of it is where I played around with all sorts of Pastel shades from Greys to pinks to light purple etc.
Let all of it dry and then peel off the tape.
And you should end up with something like this.
How gorgeous does this look!
The gold and silver combination which earlier looked like a mess gives off such an interesting pattern through the herringbone design.
Such a small update but made such a big impact
