Painted Chair Makeover

After painting the wooden chair, all I’ve been seeing are chairs everywhere so it only made sense to do another chair makeover post. This chair didn’t have anything wrong with it besides the fact that it was just all black and boring.

I have nothing against black, I love black but knowing me I just had to have some some color up in this chair and that too in a subtle way because our lounge has color literally everywhere and I didn’t want to go all crazy on this chair and end up making the whole house look like a clown show.

So the plan was simple just keep it simple ;)

The chair was in a really good condition,no issues or anything.

Here is the before shot.

Your basic standard black chair.

First off I unscrewed the back and the seat because I wanted to paint the chair first.

The black frame of the chair was going to get a good coat of the color Vivid by Velvet Finishes. I could have painted it with a brush but ain’t nobody got time for that so ofcourse I used my Homeright Finish Max Sprayer to get the job done within minutes.

I loaded my Sprayer and got to work. I gave the chair three light sprays, getting the paint in all those curves and turns was a dream with the sprayer.

While the chair was drying I started the work on the seat and the back side of the chair. I was going for a tribal type feel for the chair.

Since I knew the colors will be absorbed in the chair and it wasn’t going to be Bright and Popping so we were good to go with these beautiful shades called Glamorours, Ethereal and Exotic.

Remember the plan, keeping it simple ;)

For the design part of the chair I went for an Aztec Stencil by DecoArt.

I dabbed my stencil brush into the paint and started painting it onto the chair alternating between all three shades.

The seat and the backside were done under twenty minutes.

After that it was just a matter of screwing the seat and the backside onto the chair and I had a brand new chair.

All Done.
