This little fella has gone through a lot of makeovers because its been repainted three times over a period of 5 years but I think I’m going to stick with this version now.
But in all honesty this is my favorite version for this piece so yeah this one is definitely a keeper for sure!
The storage cabinet looked like this Before.
It was this dark brown cheap wood like some laminate type wood.
But I didn’t have any high expectations for it because come on it was a towel cabinet before so I wasn’t expecting Glamour anyways.
The first makeover that it got was this chevron pattern because at that time I was in my “Let’s Chevron Everything in Sight” Mode.
I actually did kinda like this version and it stayed this way for a good 4 years but it was time to move on now.
And so began the transformation all over again.
Materials Needed for this Project
First off I gave it a good coat of white paint to cover up the previous masterpiece then I went in and painted it this beautiful Turquoise by Americana DecoArt.
It gave it this beautiful shiny finish.
I let it completely dry for a day before I started placing the Wood Chips onto the furniture in an Aztec Pattern.
I chose three sizes of the Wood Chips which I bought from Michaels.
The Large one was for the outside layer, the Medium was in the middle and the third layer and the Small one I used for the inside.
Before placing it onto the Cabinet I painted each individually in Gold.
Then it was just a matter of gluing one by one onto the cabinet. I thought it would be a very long and tedious process but it was done under half an hour.
For the sides and the top part of the cabinet I kept it Dull Gold as it was because it went with the whole theme.
And there you have it.
All Done!
What do you guys think?
