The inspiration for this table came about when I stumbled upon these gorgeous Mosaic Table Tops. I knew I wanted to make something like that because I had pieces of broken mirror leftover from a project I had done earlier.
And I had the perfect table to experiment my technique on since I had a very dated TV Trolly in my house which no one really used hence it was the perfect victim.
Here is how it looked Before
The table was really dated and had a lot of rusty spots on its legs.
But that didn’t bother me since I was going to cover it up anyways.
Materials Needed for this Project
Broken Mirror
The first plan of action was to spray paint the entire table in a Silver Chrome paint.
I gave it about two light coats which got rid of the dark rusty sports.
Let it dry.
Next step is to tackle the top part which is a lengthy process.
First I went in and individually glued on the broken mirror pieces in a random pattern.
Spread them far apart since everything was going to filled in with Grout.
When the mirrors have dried and are in there place, spread the grout all over the top and fully cover the mirror pieces.
Give it a few hours to dry.
When it was still wet I spray painted the entire top Gold.
Don’t worry the mirrors wont get painted since Grout will protect it.
When the spray paint has somewhat dried use a damp towel and wipe off the excess tile Grout which will leave behind your shiny pieces of mirror.
This isn’t really an easy project to begin with but it gives a gorgeous result.
I love the rocky texture with the mirror pieces.
What do you guys think?
I also transformed another table exactly like this one but this time I used Aluminum Foil so be sure to check that out.
