This little guy I got a few weeks ago.
Firstly I absolutely loved the carvings and details of it and I got it basically for free so ya know this girl could not pass up on the opportunity.
The Column itself is really solid and weighs as TON. But it did have a little damage here and there, nothing that couldn’t solved with a little TLC.
This is how it looked Before.
Not too shabby Right?
You can also see some of the damage at the base.
I knew I had to place this pillar in a corner so that one side was going to be hidden away so I wasn’t really worried about it as much.
Material Needed for This Project
Thin Paintbrush
I started with painting the wood pillar in the color Raspberry.
I painted the entire top and body of the column minus the woodworking details on top since I had other plans for it.
In total I gave it about two coats of the paint.
For the part where the detailing parts of the column I went in with my Liquid Gold Gilding and completely covered it in Gold.
I love the brightness and shine of the liquid gold and with just one coat it looked Amazing if I say so myself.
At first I painted the top part in the color Raspberry but then I fell in love with the gold so much that I went ahead and painted the top part Gold aswell.
When that was completed I took my Charcoal Grey color and painted the base of the pillar and blended it with the Raspberry color.
The idea was to achieve somewhat of an ombre effect.
After blending the grey with the raspberry by using a lighter shade of purple to bring it all together my wooden Pillar was finally complete.
I added a vase on top with some huge flowers
Now I have this wooden pillar placed away in one corner of my living room and it really brightens up the whole space.
What do you guys think?
