And here we go again guys with another Clay Project and todays little number are these DIY Ikat Chevron Clay Coasters.
This was a super quick project, maybe because I’ve been playing around with clay for the last couple of weeks that it’s almost second nature now!
You can see my Marbled Clay Bowls, Geometric Clay Coaster and DIY Cactus Clay Ring Holder to see the clay projects I’ve created so far.
But lets get started on todays project.
Supplies needed
Oven Bake Clay (been using this for the last few projects and love it so far)
Acrylic Paint (I used Red and White)
Thin Tip Paintbrush
Baking Tray
Empty Bottle and Round Bowl
I chose the color red and white for these coasters.
First I softened the clay in the palm of my hands and then rolled it into a ball.
Using an empty bottle I flattened it out.
Then with a round bowl I traced out the circle and cut it out.
I ended up with these two perfectly circular shapes.
I then placed it on to a baking tray and baked the clay at 275F for 15 minutes.
When they came out of the oven and had cooled down thats when I went in and painted these little coasters.
Using a really thin brush I painted the Ikat Chevron Pattern. If you want to know how to paint this pattern hop on to my “How to Paint an Ikat Chevron” Post where you will get to see a step by step of the whole design.
I went with the red paint on the white coaster and vice versa.
It didn’t take long at all, painting these coasters and I was done in under ten minutes.
The last step is optional but gives a really nice finish.
I used the Sculpey Glaze which is specifically for clay projects and gave these coasters a nice coat of the glaze.
It will give a smooth and glossy finish.
And there you have it.
Told you guys it was going to be a quick one.
What do you guys think?
